The Entheogenic Process

In the broadest terms, the psychological process that occurs during an entheogenic experience is the dissolution of existing psychological boundaries. More specifically, these boundaries are deeply established barriers existing between layers of consciousness that normally limit access to the wider range of psychological content. From a therapeutic standpoint, the elimination of these established boundaries allows inestimable contact with that which is healing and even considered by many belief systems to be sacred knowledge.

… as a function of the entheogenic process, the “reducing valve of the mind” is open for a period of time, allowing two-way passage of a flow of normally inaccessible information that originates from our subconscious minds and beyond. As exemplified by many of the personal accounts given throughout this book, the entheogens play a vital role as a tool used to create this opening.
